What is LCD 3D Printing?
LCD 3D printing, or Liquid Crystal Display 3D printing, is a resin-based additive manufacturing technology that uses a high-resolution LCD screen to cure liquid photopolymer resin layer by layer. It is part of the vat photopolymerisation family, like SLA and DLP, but uses an LCD panel as its light source.
The process works by shining UV light through an LCD screen that masks each layer’s image. The light cures only the areas exposed through the screen, solidifying the resin layer by layer. The build platform lifts slightly after each cured layer to allow fresh resin to flow beneath it.
LCD is commonly used for:
- Miniatures, figurings & models.
- Custom small parts.
- High-detail prototypes.
