The Challenge

Towndate Property Management faced a major issue at one of their London residential developments. After 30 years of exposure to UV light, the car park and entry light lenses had deteriorated, with one lens failing completely and cracking beyond repair. Finding a replacement wasn’t straightforward — the original manufacturer had closed down years earlier, leaving no off-the-shelf options. Towndate needed a durable, cost-effective, and future-proof solution to replace the fixtures.

The Solution

We recommended using a UV-stable resin system, specifically chosen to prevent future yellowing and deterioration. A finished master model was created and used to produce a silicone tool, enabling vacuum casting of replacement lamp lens mouldings. This approach not only delivered the precision and clarity required for lighting but also ensured long-term durability against environmental exposure.

The Results

  • Accurate replacement lenses produced, despite the OEM no longer being available.

  • UV-resistant materials future-proofed the lights against yellowing and damage.

  • Vacuum casting process delivered high-quality, professional-grade mouldings.

  • Cost and waste reduction, enabling Towndate to repair and maintain fixtures rather than replace entire systems.

  • Successful installation extended the lifespan of the development’s lighting system, leaving Towndate in a stronger position for future maintenance.
