I-Spire Laptop Riser
The Challenge
Fellowes, renowned for its ergonomic office products, wanted to expand its I-Spire range with a portable laptop riser that solved the limitations of existing stands. Comparative Product Analysis (CPA) conducted by AME revealed common issues: many risers offered steep angles that were incompatible with certain laptop sizes or restricted openings. The challenge was to create a design that was ergonomically effective, compatible across devices, portable, and cost-effective to manufacture.
The Solution
We collaborated closely with Fellowes through a series of creative workshops to identify and refine solutions. The design team focused on eliminating the compatibility issues of traditional risers while ensuring multiple ergonomic angle adjustments, foldability, and portability. Using our in-house prototyping facilities, we produced a series of physical models to test mechanical performance, foldability, angles of operation, and size compatibility. These prototypes validated both the ergonomic and functional aspects of the design while also considering manufacturing efficiency and cost alignment with the projected market price.
The Results
-
A fully validated ergonomic laptop riser design, compatible with all laptop sizes.
-
Prototypes tested in-house, ensuring performance, portability, and ease of use.
-
A product that reflects Fellowes’ commitment to ergonomic innovation within their I-Spire range.
-
Minimised risk and costs in development through early prototyping and iterative design.
“All our products are designed and developed to enhance efficiency and the user experience and our new laptop riser is no different. The team at AME Group has created a product which is the complete laptop riser solution.”
